With all this SOPA/PIPA stuff going on, I'm beginning to think I need to take my own pictures and use them for these challenges. Of course, with very little time to take pictures like the ones I have been choosing, the challenge may become rather bland and boring! :( At that point, it'll be time to shut it down!
May I ask: Why did you begin this?

I have the same concerns, Kae. I stripped nearly every picture from my websites, even though I paid perfectly good money for them on Ebay. I don't have a clue who took them, so I can't give credit. Unless I purchased them from the photographer's estate, out they came. I need to go through my pictures here, just to be on the safe side, but I think they're all okay.
It came to me as an idea a little over a year ago, when I saw a friend do a piece of writing in 55 words, based on a picture. She called it fiction in a flash, and I liked the idea. so I asked her if I could steal her idea and make it a weekly challenge, and she said sure, as the flash fiction wasn't original with her.
I use it as a weekly assignment for my creative writing class in high school as well.
I think what you have written under the pic will suffice.
I began to do this back a few months ago when an Internet bully, at the instigation of his friend, came here and threatened me with prosecution and jail because I do not have copyright to the pictures I use, or to the title of the challenge. Why did he do that, you ask? Because I added the rule about not changing the picture, and it offended his friend.
I'm a blocked writer and have been curious about this for a while.

I did, eventually, Virginia. I was sorely tempted to shut this down to just my contacts, but then I realized that that was just the outcome this jerk wanted, and I was determined not to give him or his childish friend the upper hand any more. I'm grown, so I acted like it, and kept my challenge open to everyone. Neither he nor she has returned, thankfully, although she was sufficiently inspired by my idea and started her own challenge which requires people to write 56 words! *chuckes* Yeah, I'm amused! LOL! I'm thinking she must miss me! *snickers*

You certainly are doing just fine. I really enjoy this group and the challenges. It always surprises me how many extraneous words I can edit out before I do harm to what I've written, then use different words to keep the personality without exceeding the word limit. This is excellent practice in writing clearly and concisely.
