...or do these two ladies share a similar sensuality of tone -- a richness, a roundness, a depth (across the spectrum of soprano sound), that makes listening to them sing a sexy, sensual treat?
I was listening to a Doris Day song on my friend Mayka's page, and it occurred to me, as I was listening, that I recognized the tone. I LOVE Ella Fitzgerald's music. She has a purity of sound, and an innate sensuality, that gets me every time! And I hear the echo of that in Doris Day.
There is a similarity in tonal quality. Did you know that "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" began as the Latin American song, "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas"? I learned it when I studied Spanish in high school, although I don't remember it, now.

Both are great!
No, Virginia, I didn't. I never learned that one when I was in school, and I remember most of the songs I learned in Spanish class with Mr. Moss! :)
