Veiled Thoughts

WHISKEY EYES

What are you thinking, Veiled One,
gazing fixedly into space,
your whiskey eyes framed
by kohl and chiffon red?

Do you long for a childhood past,
its joys spent in the waning light
of a summer gone?

Do you yearn for a womanhood stol'n,
its beauty marred by the burning touch
of a lustful hand?

Do you ache for a romance missed,
its passion dimmed by the chances lost
for a union strong?

Do you sigh for an end desir'd,
its warming promise ever out of sight
of wishful eyes?

What are you wishing, Sad One,
gazing into space,
your whiskey eyes framed
by loss and pain?
