Fiction in a Flash ~ Week 5

The "rules" are few, and very simple:

* Your entry will come due each Saturday, when a new picture will be posted.
* You may only write 55 words.
* Your entry must be fiction.
* Post your entry as a blog on your page, and drop off the link in the comments section on this page.
* Have fun!  (Yes, it's a "rule"!  )

Her mother had left her the hat, but forbidden her to ever wear it, because nothing but ill-fortune would come to any woman who put it on.

Then came the Prince's annual Ball, and she could no longer resist.

Neither could the Prince. They married.

A happy ending?

No.

Viagra hadn't been invented yet.

Beautiful picture .. let me think about the story ..

She dresses carefully, wanting to look beautiful for him; the silky dress, the necklace he loves her in when she's wearing nothing else ... she deepens the color of her mouth, ready for his kisses. The final step .. the hat, tilted to hide her eyes .. then she waits, with a half-smile and thoughts of him.

The Lady

Mike and Ned  peered through the windows into Mrs Grayson's sitting room. Was there really a giant pulsating white larva under her hat where her hair should have been, or had they just imagined it all last night?
