I am absolutely no further forward in writing anything, but I now know India is the world's top exporter of bananas - growing 26 or so metric tons of the things every year ...... and they are slightly radioactive because of the high potassium content.

One isotope is - Potassium 40. I don't think it's enough to worry about though.
It's like carbon dating - dead trees aren't that dangerous either - unless it happens to fall and hit you on the head. :D
