I was reading about this yesterday, but I want to know how much to take every day.... that looked like a heaping double spoonful.... the stuff I was reading was that coconut oils are MCT ? oils... and best added to a low carb diet.... am going to look more....
The recommended daily dosage is three tablespoons. You can cook with it,fry with it,bake with it and even eat it right out of the jar.It is a delicious butter replacement and melts easily onto your toast. It's also good for your heart and Immune System! ;)
I DO know that coconut is creamy and delicious. we Jamaicans use it to cook rice and beans, as well as something we call "run down", which is fish cooked in coconut milk.
Here the South Indians cook their daily meal in coconut oil. Another common ingredient used while cooking is Turmeric powder also known as curcumin which is another ingredient known to keep Alzheimers at bay. Curcumin is also supposed to have antibiotic effects. If one suffers from cough try this: A glass of milk boiled with a spoonful of turmeric powder, strained and drunk warm, thrice a day. Cuts that bleed is usually cleaned with warm water, patted dry and a pinch of turmeric powder applied to it. The procedure is repeated twice a day for at least a couple of days. As a parent I've used more home remedies than Allopathy and have had great results.

Yes. I wonder about that, too, Mo! I wonder if the good doc has actual dosages, or a recipe book or something?
Just for fun...

And of course, we SHOULD have known about the benefits of the nut, beause Harry Belafonte attested to it way back when! LOL!

And since I love butter -- the REAL thing, not margarine -- so much, I can only imagine how coconut must tste.
