I totally agree.........Men may be the head of the house......but a woman is the neck able to turn in his head in her direction that she needs him to. My father believed that truly the heart of the house was held in the hands of mothers.

I think though, that its not just women who can be strong like that. Women are said to be able to bear more ..but human beings in general are amazingly tough and resourceful in the worst of times. Its one of our positive qualities :) ..in fact, hard times seem to bring out the best in all of us.

I would have thought that perhaps it rests in a slightly greater tendency toward organization, but that does lack pathos.
