I think you can miss what you never had ... i didn't have a dad growing up.. not that i missed 'the man'... but i missed what i thought i didn't have... does that make sense? lol maybe not....
It makes perfect sense to me! And I have to agree with you on this! the only way I can see you not missing something you never had is if there is no emotional attachment to the thing/person/whatever. if THAT makes sense...
i can relate to that side of it too.. because for a long time i didn't know my dad.. i had never talked to him.. and i have meet him twice in 43 years, so not exactly an attachment there.. just a sadness of what could have been...

Really. Don't think I missed much. I have the respect of my peers. I found true love twice. I have two great kids. I can pay my bills. I've been to many places and experienced many adventures, I have four going on five degrees, I've discovered brand new fossil species, I've so many interests being bored is impossible. What is there to miss?
I like you Kae so I hope I have not left a bitter taste in your mouth. I controlled a number of variables that made for success, but the rest was luck. I do miss things that might have been and I regret mistakes made, especially where others were involved. But I can't do anything about that. I still have to wait five or ten years to find out if I really survived cancer. That's life.

I never had a lot of money, but I sure would miss out to have an easier time
getting the kids to college...........
I can't always travel which I think would be a wonderful thing, so my kids miss out on
seeing more of the world....
I think there are something's you wish you could have and might miss out on.
